Have you ever wondered what is involved when remodeling your home starting from the studs? Have you ever wondered what the process or steps are? Well, you've come to the right place! Today in this article we will be talking briefly about the steps that are involved when you are doing a whole home renovation. Let's get started!
Whole Home Renovation Steps!
Whole Home Renovation Steps!
Permits/Plans!!!
The number one thing that needs to be done before any type of renovation is getting any plans and permits if needed. The importance of a plan is to visualize what you will like to get done. For example, planning out how you would like the layout of the kitchen to be is a great way to start! If you're looking for a designer, we are here for you! Permits are also very important especially if we are going to be moving things around or removing/adding walls. With permits, both the customer and the contractor will be safe. Also, make yourself a list of things you would like to do. Be very detailed with this because this will make the contractor's and the client's life much easier as they won't have to go back and forth with the client. Also with permits, you will have to get inspections done and they are mostly all done at once, they will be done over a period of time and as the project gets rolling.
Demolition Begins!
Now the work begins! Our demolition crew will come on-site and demolish everything down to the stud. There will also be a big dumpster bin outside your house for all the junk removal. Once the demolition begins, we will also be able to see if there are missing pieces that need to be dealt with first or if there is any type of mold build-up that we did not know of. So there are many things that we find out once the demolition starts. If the client will be living in the house, we will ensure safety and precaution for your family. Safety is our number priority!
Framing!
Now we can start the framing! Because you will have all plans, drawings, and permits, this will make our lives much easier as we will be able to just read the permits and drawings and do all the framing! This is the beauty of having permits! Support beams, walls, windows, doors, ceilings, hallways… all this will be created at this stage.
Electrical, Plumbing, Ductwork
In this step, any electrical, plumbing, or ductwork that needs to be done will be done. All of this MUST be done before any insulation is installed or any drywall is hung. So if you would like to add anything new, now is the time to say so!
Insulation and Drwalling
Now the finishing work can begin! All the walls will be insulated and once that is done, all the drywall will be hung. Then the drywall will be mudded, taped, sanded, and finished with a smooth finish.
Windows and Carpentry
Now that all the walls are done and hung, now you can install all the new windows throughout the property. Also, you can install all the carpentry trim, baseboard, shoe molding, crown molding, and all sorts of custom trim.
Decoration and Flooring
In this face, you will see all the walls and the property being painted. Now is when the home will become very pretty and start to look beautiful! Once all the decoration is done, all the flooring can start. Whether its tile, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, or anything else, the flooring starts now. The home renovation is almost a wrap.
