Is Construction Just Swinging Tools?

Many people have a wrong idea of what construction really is. What they believe is that construction is very simple; swinging tools. Construction is not just merely swinging tools and putting nails in the wood, it is much more than that, so what is it really? Let’s find out together!

Creative Problem Solving

Many people believe that construction is just doing what the customer says and whatever they want to do. At times this may be the case, but while renovating/building, you may come across a problem that can't be fixed by normal means. When traditional thinking fails, creative problem solving is a means of addressing issues of recognizing possibilities. It motivates you to seek out new ideas and devise novel solutions in order to devise a strategy for overcoming barriers and achieving your objectives. You would want to use the CIDI strategy, (Clarify, Ideate, Develop, Implement). With these at your disposal, you will be able to solve any problem in your path and this plays a big factor when you're doing renovations to your home or even making a custom home!

Reading and Interpreting Blueprints and Building Codes

When you look at a picture, you tend to think of all the different points of view on it. When you look at a floor plan, you are looking at the skeleton of the project. To be able to understand what goes where and what goes there is not easy. A blueprint of a project is full of codes and instructions on how something is supposed to be done, and with what materials. Building codes are literary terms for what materials or what protocol to follow and these are important to know when you are building custom homes or are doing full house remodels. This requires good memorization and skills to be able to interpret what to do, and how a project is supposed to be constructed.

Performing Tasks That Require Greater Memory

Many people may think that carpentry and construction do not need any sort of memorization. Bur memorization plays a huge key in a builder's success. Muscle memory, and remember how you did something before making you more efficient and you do much better work. You remember what you did before, and you do it better every single time. You must remember what also needs to be done, when it needs to be done and how it needs to be done. When you also remember the mistakes you had made in the past, you avoid them and learn from them, you will do much better than before and this is important even if it's a small renovation or a big project.

Using Computer Applications or Technical Tools to Operate Machinery

Construction is not just all woodwork and labor. As necessary all that is, computers and technical tools are very important also. When the customer wants a house-made or a basement made, you can 3-D design it on a computer with the right software, like that it saves a lot of time, space, energy, and money. It is also very efficient. You can also use a computer to run trial and error software to see what materials will work best together depending on what the customer's budget is, (many variables play a role in this). You can also use computers to use machinery and operate many tools, this makes it a much safer environment and much faster and more efficient. Technical tools can also assist with operating specific machinery. When you want to view project updates, you can look at your phone and check, and when you want to communicate with clients you can just send an email. When you do all this you can complete all your work much easier and faster.
