How To Avoid Construction Project Delays! (For Contactors)

Have you ever had problems with delays to your projects? Maybe that's because the time management was not done right. Maybe it was due to the fact that the material shipment came in late. There are so many things that can happen that can delay the project. But today we will be talking about 4 things you can do to avoid any major delays for projects.

Estimates!

If your estimate is done in the first place, there should not be any delays from there. Make sure you write down everything that is being done so that you prevent delays. Ensure that you are putting in the right prices so that you will have enough cash to buy materials and pay for labor. There are many factors that come into play for this, but these are the few important ones.

Change Orders!

If there are any changes that need to be made during the project, that is absolutely fine! But just ensure that the client signs the change order and sends it back on time or else it will cause bigger delays down the line. Whether this is a big change order or a smaller one, this can play a big factor in time management.

Weather!

This is something we as humans can't control at all! We might have the concrete crew come and start the next day, but it starts raining! That's disappointing because now this delays everything. So plan accordingly. Every week, check the weather and check to see what days are best for what.

Communication!

This is key! Communication is key! Not just communication with your client, but with your subcontractors. If you told them to show up tomorrow, but they thought the following day, that is a lack of communication. To prevent this, why not have a system where it reminds them that they are going this or that day? This will ensure that they show up on time and don't miss the day!
