Different Driveway Materials To Install

In some of our previous blogs, we have discussed certain topics revolving around driveways, specifically heated driveways. The blog stated the benefits of installing Heated Driveways, and if you would like to have a further look into heated driveways, you can find it on our “Blog” page, on our website. In addition to Heated Driveways, we will also have a look at some of the different driveways materials that you can install on your driveway, and also discuss which specific material will suit best for your needs.

Asphalt

Asphalt is the most common driveway material used in basic homes situated in North America. Due to its affordability, its ability to be installed in small time, and being able to provide features such as skid resistance and its uniform appearance, it becomes the favorite pick for homeowners. Although it is not the best in terms of maintenance as seal coating is needed to be applied every three years, it doesn’t create a huge problem as manufacturers suggest it is best to keep away from the driveway within 24 hours of application, which isn’t a lot of time.

Concrete

Similarly, another common driveway material that you may have heard of is Concrete. Concrete is a durable material that homeowners install on their driveways, as well as in their backyards. For more information about concrete in the backyard, you can read one of our previous blogs named “Benefits of Installing Concrete Patio in Your Backyard”. In the following blog, one of the benefits of Concrete is its maintenance-free feature, meaning whether it is snowing or raining, it will do great! With the great benefits, comes a greater price. In contrast to Asphalt, Concrete is more expensive to install and will take a relatively long time.

Brick Pavers

Brick Pavers are another widely used material to install driveways with, and provide features that both Concrete and Asphalt provide. The following material has great resistance to cracking and breaking while requiring low maintenance. In addition, due to its naturally textured surface, it provides a great non-slip surface. As previously stated, with greater quality comes greater costs. As for Brick Pavers, the cost of installing these can cost you almost double of Concrete, but because they can provide such great quality, it just needs to be installed once and will be great for decades.
